Mission: ZERO TO THREE’s mission is to help professionals, policy makers and parents to promote the healthy development of infants and toddlers
Work: ZERO TO THREE a national, nonprofit organization that informs, trains and supports professionals, policy makers and parents in their efforts to improve the lives of infants and toddlers by:
- Translating research into practical information
- Training professionals and build networks of leaders
- Influencing policies and practice
- Raising public understanding of early childhood issues
Reach: ZERO TO THREE has a regional office in Los Angeles, California which provides a variety of policy, consultative and training services. State-based staff offer an early childhood literacy initiative in Kentucky, and coordinate projects in Iowa, Texas, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and Mississippi working with the foster care system.
ZERO TO THREE is active in many states throughout the U.S. Through our current State Partnerships for Prevention grant, we are providing ongoing training for trainers and consultation to state leaders in the implementation of our training curriculum, Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect: Parent-Provider Partnerships in Child Care. Twelve states are involved in this project. Cohort 1 consists of: North Dakota, South Carolina, New York, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Cohort 2 includes: Hawaii, California, Maine, Indiana, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire.
The Early Head Start National Resource Center at ZERO TO THREE provides training and technical assistance to EHS programs nationwide and the Center for Training Services engages states and local programs throughout the country in training and consultation. Our National Infant-Toddler Initiative has provided technical assistance and web-based learning opportunities to infant-toddler early care and education systems in much of the country.
Strengthening Families: ZERO TO THREE has been pleased to exchange support, information and resources with the SFI and with participating states. The PCAN training curriculum allows trainers to bring to child care providers the knowledge and skills to help them adopt the SFI protective factors and implement the seven program strategies disseminated through the SFI self-assessment.
Technical Assistance: ZERO TO THREE provides training of trainers in the use of the PCAN curriculum and ongoing consultation and TA to those that are trained. In order to access this TA, trainers can participate in a training for trainers.
