National Child Care Information and Technical Assistance Center

NCCIC

Mission:
NCCIC supports the Child Care Bureau’s mission to help low-income working families through child care financial assistance and the promotion of children’s learning though improving the quality of early care and education and school age programs.

Work:
NCCIC serves State, Territory and Tribal Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) grantees (child care administrators) as well as policy makers, Federal partners and technical assistance providers.

Reach:
NCCIC provides direct, customized, technical assistance to each State and Territory via a network of 12 Technical Assistance specialists.  NCCIC has a team of Information Specialists who develop written products on all areas of child care policy and implementation.  NCCIC distributes information and answers questions via the website and toll free hot line 1-800-716-2242.  Information is disseminated via conference presentations, consultation and training, as well as products and materials.

Strengthening Families:
NCCIC, through our direct TA work in states and territories, promotes the creation and implementation of financing, governance and professional development systems in support of quality care and education for children.  This includes facilitating work groups, assisting with strategic planning, product development and goal setting.  In these venues, the Strengthening Families model can and is integrated into the work of State/Territory CCDF administrators; state-wide advisory/policy/planning groups, and other key partners.  Specifically, early learning guidelines, comprehensive service strategies, quality rating systems, and cross-sector professional development systems can all be inclusive of Strengthening Families approaches and goals.

Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance is available at the request of the State/Territory Child Care Administrator, their key partners, or Federal Regional office staff.  NCCIC Technical assistance is focused at the State-system level.  Local providers, parents, and other stakeholders can access information through our website and toll free hotline on topics related to the strengthening families’ protective factors.
