Strategies for Strengthening Families in Early Care and Education Programs

Through visiting programs, interviewing staff and parents, observing centers in operation, and reviewing surveys, CSSP staff identified seven program strategies that early care and education programs implement to build Protective Factors. These are some of the ways that programs can make small but significant—and often affordable—changes to enrich their practice with children and families. To view the strategies, click below:

In addition, there are five programmatic elements that build Protective Factors. While not all programs will have the resources to build these elements, when they are available, they can significantly contribute to work with children and families. They are:
