Mission:
Our mission is to strengthen families to provide for and take leadership in assuring the well-being of children, families and communities.
Work:
PSP provides organizations with customized training, technical assistance and onsite consultation regarding ways to effectively engage all families, including development and support of community-based networks. PSP’s program models include family support curricula and training developed for the early childhood field and an intensive leadership training institute for parents. Our services result in increased parent involvement and leadership, genuinely diverse participation, strengthened community ties, and improved effectiveness in community-building.

PSP is a national organization. We have provided our programs and trainings in the following states: Alaska, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, North Carolina.
Strengthening Families:
PSP is a national affiliate of Strengthening Families and has provided training of trainers, technical assistance and resource support using our Stronger Together curriculum for state initiatives (Alaska, Georgia, Illinois). PSP’s Parent Leadership Institute has also be offered in Georgia with some Strengthening Families partner programs participating.
Our training and curriculum has the following benefits:
- In-depth information on family-centered practice and methods for involving and strengthening families within programs and communities
- Practical tools for strengthening the relationship between staff and families, and among families, to reduce isolation and increase protective factors
- Tested strategies that affirm the diversity of all families, include men in early childhood, and create welcoming environments that generate trust
- Builds readiness within programs and initiatives to engage parents as advocates for their children and as community leaders
